Janet Clarke Hall is delighted to announce the appointment of Annie McGuire as our new Deputy Principal.

Annie was appointed from an exceptionally strong field of nearly 70 applicants from across Australia and New Zealand and will join the Janet Clarke Hall community in May 2025.

Annie, currently the Dean of Students and Deputy Principal at Mannix College, an affiliate of Monash University, has significant experience in educational leadership, community building, and student wellbeing across the secondary and tertiary sectors both in Australia and the United States.

Raised in the Northeast United States, she was awarded a Bachelor of Politics at Saint Anselm College before earning a Master of Education from the University of Massachusetts. Her teaching career began at Masconomet Regional High School where she quickly rose to leadership positions, guiding students both academically and on the athletics field.
Annie's career brought her to Australia, where she became the Head of Middle School at St Leonard’s College in Brighton and later Deputy Principal (Learning and Teaching) at OLSH College Bentleigh, before taking up her role at Mannix College in 2022. There, Annie helped lead the College to achieve Gold Accreditation under the newly established Residential Experience Standard (RES), making it the first Australian residential college to earn this prestigious recognition.

Annie has professional accreditations in restorative practices, mindfulness, and coaching, and is also a qualified yoga teacher. She has completed the National Excellence in School Leadership Institute (NESLI) Women’s Leadership Course, and currently convenes the University Colleges Australia (UCA) Deans, Deputies, and Directors group to drive improvements in residential colleges across Australia.

Outside of work, Annie enjoys cycling, running, yoga, and good coffee. She and her family (husband, Chris; adult children, Caroline, Katie, Harry, and Chloe; and Joe the Border Collie) are excited to become part of the Janet Clarke community.
