Our Strategic Plan

A vision for equity, excellence, and opportunity.

A strategic vision for the next generation

Janet Clarke Hall is proud of its history and purposeful about its future.

Our Strategic Plan 2024-2029 outlines the direction that will guide the College as it realises its vision to become Australia’s first need-blind residential college, ensuring that every student of merit can attend JCH, regardless of their financial circumstances.

Grounded in 140 years of collegiate legacy and life, this plan builds on a long tradition of equity, academic excellence, and community. It reflects where we’ve come from, who we are today, and the promise we hold for generations to come — a place where people from all backgrounds can learn deeply, live meaningfully, and grow and thrive with purpose.

To provide a collegiate experience that nurtures and inspires intellectual and personal growth, social responsibility and academic excellence, and a powerful belief in one’s own potential to make a meaningful contribution to society.

02.

Our values

Curiosity. Courage. Generosity. Community. Excellence. These values guide every aspect of College life — shaping how we learn, live, and lead together.

03.

Looking ahead

By 2035, Janet Clarke Hall will be Australia’s first need-blind residential college – a community where financial circumstance no longer determines opportunity.

This plan is both practical and aspirational: it sets a clear direction for growth while reaffirming the values that have guided JCH since 1886. It asks us to act generously and remain steadfast in our belief that education changes lives. Together, we will ensure that every capable student — regardless of background — can find their place at Janet Clarke Hall.

Help us shape the future of JCH

The success of this plan depends on collective effort — from students, alumni, and friends who share our belief in the transformative power of education.
