At Janet Clarke Hall, empowering the next generation of thoughtful and kind leaders, is about providing a space where every student feels known, supported and challenged to grow — not only as scholars, but as people of integrity and purpose.
Our Principal, Dr Eleanor Spencer-Regan, believes education is most powerful when it opens minds and connects lives. Her leadership reflects JCH’s enduring values of curiosity, courage, generosity, community and excellence, guiding the College with both respect for its history and optimism for its future.
Founded in 1886, Janet Clarke Hall has always believed that great leadership begins with compassion, curiosity and courage. Our diverse and values-led community empowers students to grow and thrive — academically and personally.
Janet Clarke Hall is guided by a dedicated College Council that provides governance, strategic direction and stewardship of the College’s long-term vision.
JCH’s leadership team works collaboratively to create a vibrant and supportive residential experience for all students. Together they uphold the College’s Values, strengthen its academic and pastoral programs, and ensure the wellbeing of every member of the community.

JCH’s academic life is shaped by a dedicated team of tutors who bring knowledge, passion and a genuine commitment to student learning. Led by the Dean of Academics and Employability, the tutorial program spans disciplines across the arts, humanities, sciences, commerce and law — offering small-group learning and individual academic support.
Each year, JCH appoints a group of experienced resident and non-resident tutors who provide guidance, feedback and mentorship, helping students extend their understanding and achieve their academic goals.
Leadership at JCH extends beyond formal titles — it’s expressed through initiative, service and community spirit. The Student Club Executive, elected by their peers, leads the Student Club, representing resident voices and shaping the student experience.
Alongside the Executive are a range of leadership opportunities that allow students to contribute to College life — from sustainability and culture to sport, music, publications and performance.
