Application and offer dates

Applications for Janet Clarke Hall follow the University of Melbourne’s intercollegiate application process. Key stages include submitting your application, attending interviews and receiving offers.

Welcome Week and move-in

Students typically arrive in the week before Semester 1 begins. Welcome Week includes orientation activities, introductions to tutors and staff, campus tours and the first community events of the year.

Move-in and Welcome Week dates are provided directly to new residents once offers are finalised.

Academic year

The College academic calendar aligns closely with the University of Melbourne (and RMIT where relevant).

Semester dates, breaks and exam periods follow the university schedule each year, ensuring continuity between College life and academic commitments.

Students will receive updated calendars and key reminders at the start of each semester.

College events

A number of events shape the JCH year, offering opportunities to connect, celebrate and contribute to College life. Annual events include:

Co-curricular events (Literature Dinner; Leadership Dinner; Midwinter Debate; Oratory Competition)
