Mr Aidan Carter

Teaching areas: International Relations, Politics, History, Essay Writing, Linguistics, Italian and French

Originally growing up in country Victoria, Aidan moved to Melbourne in 2013 in order to attend the University of Melbourne. He completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) majoring in Politics/International Studies and Italian, whilst also completing a Diploma of Languages specialising in French. He has recently completed a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education at La Trobe University, and will be completing a Master of International Relations at the University of Melbourne in 2020.

As a lover of languages, and an aspiring polyglot in training, you’ll often find Aidan attempting to learn a new language, or talking about learning a new language, or both simultaneously. Outside of expertise English, Italian and French, he also speaks Spanish and has experience studying Mandarin, Modern Greek and Arabic.

Aidan previously worked as a Residential Tutor at International House College in 2019 and in addition to his Masters coursework, holds positions as an Academic Tutor in Italian at La Trobe University, as a Research Assistant at both La Trobe and Swinburne Universities, and continues to collaborate and research in the areas of political conflict/architecture, sociolinguistics/identity, and Italian crime fiction.

Outside of academia, he enjoys a good Netflix binge, music (piano and singing), trying to keep fit through running, tennis or cycling, and exploring the world.
